nap (as he didn't expect to sleep tonight) Letitia
& I sat on the piazza! With the children & then went over to see
Bessie Hebbard (who tho't Henry was pretty nice.) Then I went & called on
the Hamilton Davises (on
Shepard St.) & heard large stories about the
hotel &
then over to Chattie - Lura's & had a nice time & a nice
supper. Heard some letters of Kate's &
Mary Farley's & made picture puzzles out of post cards
&c.
Kate Davis is in Sicily
& her letter about the refugees from Messina are
most harrowing & interesting. Came home about 9:30 & bed soon.

Clearing & windy. J.G. told me funny stories! this
a.m. Home to lunch. Write & read tonight.
Jan 26 Tues.Mr. Behn died about 5:15 this p.m. The
twins
were over here to supper and until bed time (They didn't know about it and
won't till after the funeral) Mother's friend
Mosherin Schwartzell
was here all the afternoon and again in the evening till 11:30! He is from
Winnipeg. Has been to Norway &c.
&c. And might be much more interesting than he is, I think. He's school-
teacher training shows. & he is very long-drawn-out!
