Sept. 7. Mon. Labor Day and a perfectly fine one. Was busy at home all the a.m Took a picture of Mother's flag out in front. After lunch Mother went to a funeral of one of the Autumn Chapter and to call on the Miner's & after I washed the dishs I went up on the Pinnacle & took "the Car of Destiny"

to read under a tree - tho' much of the time I was watching the panoramas before and beneath me. It was very clear - Cityward there was much in detail to see and country-ward cloud shadows & trees & other beauties. The orphans seem very happy - keeping rabbits, &c playing ball & driving cows. On the way down I stopped at Davis' a few minutes. Lura & Charlotte came home from the matinee while I was there. I hurried home & into my green silk frock before Mrs. Willard & Charles arrived. Then we had dinner & a long evenings visit. Chas. slept in the attic, Papa on the divan downstairs and I in Mother's room (like a top too!) Sept. 8. Tues. Fine. Edith Andrews turned up - on her way to Mexico
to teach French (!) & English as a substitute two weeks. I had her & the Willards & Mother to lunch at Duffy's and it was quite jolly. We all enjoyed It, I think.
