Mar. 8. Mon. Mary dropped into Lura's quite like old times tonight. Her office is in the Triangle Building now - but will be in the Kirstein later. I'm dressing a new doll for Henry ("Betty" I think for Betsy Trotwod) while Father read aloud evenings. Mar. 9. Tues. Dark & rainy. Lunched at Seel's with Laura H. who tells me she is going abroad with Florence Penfield a year from this June! Mother went to Mrs. Webb's funeral. She died very sud- denly, in the night, after going to bed feeling fine. Mar. 10 Wed. Warm morning but cool & windy this p.m. Finished "David Copperfield"
tonight. Mar. 11 Thurs. Windy. Edith came up & walked down with me tonight. Father began "Henry Esmond."
Mar. 12 Fri. Mary's birthday & Mate Willard's had a letter from her yesterday & also a nice one today from Alice. Quite wild today. Anderson (F.E.)
has been here most of the week & we are hoping to buy in the St. L.
people too. Bought a new greenish skirt at Duffy's yesterday. Mar. 13. Sat. Some of the Perfects - ie., Lura, Edith, Chat, Mary, Nellie & I went to Duffy's to their table d' hotel dinner tonight and "sing" afterwards - led by Dossenbach and a male quartette. It was quite nice but we didn't have a very good place. Afterwards we went to the Post Office to see the weird new lights in the work room which turn everything green & purple. It was awful - like visiting a morgue (!). Afterward we went to Scrantom's.
