is quite in love with Rochester & it did look nice tonight. We went into the Seneca (We'd seen the Rochester this pm) & had sand- wiches &c when we got home - late. Jan 17. Sun. Not quite so cold & a nice snowstorm in the night. Father, Mother & Alice went to church & I wrote &c. Mary came & got dinner & Claude was here. We spent the afternoon taking a nice long sleigh ride. Down lake Ave. over Burke's Hill, up thro' Maplewood Park - the Fall's (which were beautiful today.) up St. Paul St. & East Ave. Culver Road, Harper St. Prince - past the University - to the Market. &c. &c. &c. Home about dark (which came early) & then a cozy chat by the full till 7:30, when we had supper. Louise Fenner & Mrs. Arnold came & stayed & hour & we went to bed early. Jan 18 Mon Colder, but nice. Alice shopped by her- self. She lunched with me at Sibley's & liked it much. She decided to go tonight & we went to the station but it was so very cold & the train so very late that we came back again. Wm Hoyt talked to us - there. Bed late & sleepy. Jan 19. Tues. Fine day - warmer. Alice got off this a.m. She certainly is lovely. I went to bed early (in my own bed) after a hot bath. Father & Mother went to a church reception Jan. 20. Wed. Nothing special. Miss Flack (!) told me she tho't the Cutlers "were beginning to appreciate me"!
