beautifully decorated by the
Tiffany's in memory of their father. A nice old sexton showed us.
Then I went over to 155 East 18th and called on
Ruth Dowling (Grace
was out) and saw their lovely little flat, very
artistic and nice! Came home in time to meet Mabel
at one, and dressed before Mary
came. Then all four of us went up to the Westminster
on
Fourth Avenue and had a nice little lunch and took the car up
to the
Tiffany Studios (45th and Madison). Spent an
hour or so there - antique mahogany furniture was the special exhibit, but
there was much besides. We also went into
Tiffany's5th Ave. store (ropes of opals for mine!) and to see
the Whistler Etchings and into the
Waldorf (rubberneck parlor, and all) &c. &c. All the busses
were full going up - so we finally got a Madison Ave. Car & went up to
90th St. to take one. Mabel
sat by me and told me all about her new monologues (at my
suggestion) a la
Beatrice Herford - on school subjects. We
finally got on top of a bus (all but
Edith - who was inside) and saw all the
sights, coming down to Avenue - such
costumes! Mabel
