down the lake & it was actually cool in the train! (but the sun went
almost down) I arrived home before eight & had supper with the family. Was
rather tired too.
July 27-8-9 Mon. T. Wed.
Busy days & hot ones. Miss Flack
very
cranky, which makes it unpleasant as one can't talk at all without trouble -
we've never had that sort of thing except since "Reg" went (He's back for his old job.) Saw the girls once or twice.
Read & tried to cool off.
July 30 Thurs.
Still almost unbearably hot. Lunched with MB & B at Duffy's and we bought our tickets (it took over
3/4's of an hour!) I've been packing off and on & my trunk goes tomorrow.
Tonight Mother & I went over to Wilkinson's, where Papa joined us later. Had a lovely time on the shady piazza.
Kath told about her experiences, as a
hand-writing "expert" at Oakdale
with Madelaine Hoyt. & I had nice chat with
Jo. and all the rest.
July 31 Friday
Still hot - very. Lunched at Sibley's
alone & then bought "Mr. Batt" for
Lura &c. Bid everyone
good She's going up to St. Helena,
I guess. Then I finished every bit of my work and bid everyone goodbye. Went to
see Nellie Mac & walked home. After
supper Edith phoned me. She goes to
Pleasant Point (Club) tomorrow. Then Mother & I went up to dear Cro'nest to take dear Claude a
birthday umbrella (from her) a birthday cane (from Henry - & me)
& a blue & green silk (from
MB.) The Wittington
down the lake & it was actually cool in the train! (but the sun went
almost down) I arrived home before eight & had supper with the family. Was
