We walked up to Cro'nest, where we found Mrs. Watson & Ethel & the girls soon arrived. It was lovely on the lawn. Henry was simply irresistible - and everything nice. Mr. Carlson, the Englishman, came & later Miss Helen Rogers and Miss Linda Berensen (of Smith ) She is most attractive. I came down with the girls about 7:30. Got out of my "glad lap" into my bicycle skirt & rode out to South Park to see the beauteous illumination of the river - the boats &c. Also fireworks by full moonlight. It is sort of a sight one never forget. Venetian, but still American and very beautiful. Mother and I had ice cream later. Papa went to the Hill today. July 12 Sunday

Chandler 30 wks. 17 lbs. 8. oz.
Very hot. Home all a.m. & very busy. To Cro'nest with Mother about 4:30 - only Letitia & the babies there - & they with their little shirts & panties only on. They were great fun - I tried to take some pictures of Henry, especially in his father's old dress and hat. He runs everywhere barefooted. We had Jap. water flowers, iced tea &c. &c. The Rulifson children were there a little while (Claude took their pictures with Henry in the sandpile this a.m.) Eve. at home. July 13. Mon. JWC's 51st birthday. Hot. Home to lunch. Tonight went to Nellie's & she went with me to call on Mabel & May Rogers - also
