course dinner in a private room - we had a good dinner in the pretty mission
dining room and stood on the seat in the bow & watched the lovely blue
water (it was quite calm) & took each other's pictures - and almost took a nap - & took some of the
Erbe group - & raced the "North King" into
Coburg, which we reached about two. We went "uptown" -
o mostly one long shady street of attractive Englishy-
looking hotels, cottages & "places. I regretted that they were too shady
for Kodacking. We did a little shopping when we got
back (maple leaf pins & gloves for Mother) and
had a good laugh over the men working around the jail
garden - who wore trousers with one leg of Kahki and one of black cloth! Came
back just before 3:30 and started then. It was a delightful trip - both ways.
The sun was beautiful toward evening. We had supper on board & stood
in the bow coming up the river. The Erbe people sang some.
Talked with the wife of a railroad man who is taking the trip wherever the
boat goes - for incipient tuberculosis! A good idea, I think. She
had a little boy with her and her husband & two other little children met
her at the dock a white- ducked - young man met the pretty Erbe
- party girl. We got way up home before 9.
