up and spent the evening, and we had a very nice time with pictures &c.
Bess seems anxious I should go to BenAdirondack camp with them and I'm not disinclined if I go to
N.Y. now. J.W. has been in
N.Y. nearly all the week after the Metropolitan Tower
order which he finally landed by making great sacrifices. I wrote a
circular which J.G. & Gilmore
liked very much. (Large buildings &c.) Thursday
Miss Flack & I bowled at noon and at
night I went with Mother to the Chapin's (Will
's) to a New England chicken pie church supper. It was very nice
and after supper everyone went up to the big billiard room upstairs (3rd
story) and heard the orchestrion which used to be in Powers Art
Gallery and the piano & chimes and songs &c. &c. It
is a wonderful room full of games and pictures and musical and mechanical
wonders. Friday we bowled again. The "Fuzzy muzzle
club" (all ladies) and I played 4 games and only a hot bath kept me
from great lameness. We are still reading "Alice"
Feb. 22 Sat.
Now that J.G. is back we had no half
holiday today. Both he and Gilmore were very
mean about it but J.W. wasn't & I asked
him of I could go to N.Y. and he said "yes" and a lot of
other nice things. (which will never materialize) We were all very mad about
the holiday. A about 5:30 I went to the Bijou
a few minutes, but didn't stay. Then
