& Margaret Cunningham's. Mr.
Schlitzer & his wife were here & brought the portrait he has
been painting of Meta. It is very good &
quite artistic. Late in the p.m. I went out to South
Park on Diana and sat in the tall
grass at the top of the meadow & talked to some children. It was beautiful.
June 22 Mon.
Hot. I went home at noon to put on a clean waist and tonight Lura, Nellie &
I went down to Summerville where we
ate a nice lunch which we took with us & some "hot" &c. which we didn't.
Then we walked out on the pier a little way & then went over to the Beach
and spent the rest of the evening. Lura
had her palm read (finally). We sent postals, ate ice cream cones &c.
&c. Came home cooler and just after we reached here there was a very hard thunder storm.
June 23 Tues.
Warm again. I lunched with Mother
at the Cafeteria. Chandler has a tooth!! Tonight I started to walk home & was
overtaken on Exchange St. by the weirdest of storms. Great
black clouds rolled up thick on the edges and coming "like mad" as Harry W. says I had to take refuge in the
Wells Fargo barns where I staid nearly an hour (got intimately ac-
quainted with "the man". Mother was worried.
June 24. Wed.
Cooler. Went to Wilkinson's to lunch and
had a nice time. Heard about the Tooth &c.
