I got a doll, named it "Alice" (for Alice Wolfe) &
sent it to Henry & Claude says this morning that he's perfectly de- lighted with
it. They all had to kiss Alice & he did & his "almals" did & he
hugged & "Ock-y bye - babyed" her. I sewed tonight. Mother out to Mrs. Conklin's & to prayer
meeting first &c.
Jan. 14 Thurs.
Warmer but a nice day. Papa read
Collier's
tonight. Poor old Carlie's last day on earth.
Jan. 15 Fri.
Warmer. Lunched with Bess (alone) at
Sibley's & had a nice time. We "mooned
around" afterward. At 5:30 went to the station to meet Alice Wolfe. The dear just from Syracuse. It
seemed so
good to see her. We had a lovely visit before and after Mary Ward's good dinner & did picture puzzles
&c. &c. &c. Went to bed in the attic. It turned cold.
Jan. 16 Sat.
Was a nice winter's day tho. Mother
took Alice to see stores & things &
I had them both at Duffy's for lunch.
Then they went to call on the Rumball's
& Mosher's & then up to see the babies. who did
delight Alice. She adores Henry's hair (as we all do). Had another of
Mary's nice dinners & then went to
Brewster's Millions
