New Camera. 3/31/09
Jan 27. Wed. A nice letter from my Boy who is having a nice time in N.Y. with the Wilkinson's, Penfield, Cram, Burgess &c. Jim is to lecture (!) at the Mechanics & wants some of my photographs of Cro'nest - which I am giving him. Went to the Hippodrome to see moving pictures of Sicily after the Earthquake - very interesting. Jan. 28. Thurs. Colder and brighter. Went to Mr. Behn's funeral at 2:30. Very private. Herma & Lyons came - and Arno and Tessie. Jan. 29. Friday. Bad storm - But Mother and I went over to the East High in the Evening to hear Eugene Wood - the "Back Home" Man, read the Red School House and the Circus. Very good too. Jan. 30. Sat. Still stormy. Went to Nan's at noon for a brushing & to Dr. Scranton's. Mrs. Martin Nan's partner, has gone to California. This was Mr. & Mrs. Mac Arthur's Golden Wedding I went with Edith in the evening - with all my "glad rags" on. It was very nice - in- formal - all the family but Alice's hus- band there, tho' little Emily
was sick. Lots of daffodils & pretty presents. Lura, Edith and I gave her a gold-headed umbrella with a poem by Papa which pleased them very much indeed. Mary was home - looking fine, and Lura & Bess H."poured". We stayed till nearly ten. Mr. & Mrs. looked fine. Jan. 31 Sun. Lovely bright day. Went to Cro'nest & tried a picture or two - with my new camera (Focus not right yet, however). Later Chattie
