thread & cushion &c. I was utterly used up tonight.

Same old "day before Christmas" at the office. It makes me
furious - but I don't think JW's to blame, so
I thank him. Lunched with Father at
Sibley's & about four went out to
Davis's with my bundles - had a little
visit with Helen& dear little Francey. They feel very hopeless about Lilian. Gave Miss
Bradshaw's bundles to Mrs. B.
- one "Alicia from Ray" (to whom she hardly
speaks) - her old bathing suit which I borrowed last summer - & her little
frame
done up in her favorite moth balls. Later I went our to Miss
Limerick's & got my dress. They finally got their last bundle
duplicated. After supper Claude
came down & we opened our presents. I got lovely things - as always - tho'
we weren't to give "much" among ourselves. While we were being gay &
festive the Kittens got at half a pound of beef (their
own
) & ate nearly
all of it. Their little tummys were a sight but they played merrily all the
evening. It didn't phase them a bit - but they gained wonderfuly in weight!
Bess & Mary gave me a lovely calendar - an Enlargement of the view from
Mandalay. Mother
was most generous - as always - & all my friends
