her (among others) Florence Cross had ten Italian girls there who made a little speech & presented her with flowers & Dr. Crapsey asked her to speak at the Lyceum tomorrow night. She looks well. Lura came up from N.Y. with her, but not Helen. Apr. 11 Sun. A bright Easter. I cleaned my music box this morning. Mother, Father & I went to Cro'nest this p.m. I tried some pictures of my boys. Channy got some red slippers - which were very becoming - & Henryhis new doll "Becky" who won his heart at once. They also had eggs & Bunnies &c. &c. Mrs. Crapsey's box was marked "A Happy Easter to Henry & Chandler, the babies in the woods!" - We took them over to the park. Mother & I, the the funny Taylor go cart later, and met Miss Gutman & a friend. Went over to Behn's a minute & had ice- cream while they told me how well they liked Claude's plans for a house on the Hubbell lot & then Amelie walked over to the Lyceum with me to hear Kate make a most delightful & comprehensive speech. Afterward met Father & Mother, Hamilton, Milly, Dr. & Mrs. Hoyt. Frank & Lillian, Kate, Chat, Kitty Crichton, Lura & "Marie" - Mother, Amelie & I rode home together. Apr. 12. Mon. The great event of today was Mabel's debut in her monologues (which I coaxed her to take up) at St. Peter's tonight. The "Perfects" nearly all went - & Bess & Mame &c. She was a great success. Never saw her do (or look) better.
