There was a lively little Irishman of a chimpanzee who'd delight anyone & lots others - I must go again some time. We came back another way (part surface cars) and finally when we reached 145th St (about 1:20) it was raining! but we ran for it - and in front of Mabel's

at 149th saw Edith calmly coming along under an umbrella while the man she borrowed it of walked meekly behind in the rain! It was awfully funny. Mabel
, Clare
, "Homer", Ruth Whitman and little Roger all greeted us warmly and about 2:30 we had a most delicious dinner - Grape fruit to coffee and an entertaining time. Mabel
did a monologue afterward and we had music and only went home when it began to thunder - about 4:30 - and just got into the subway when a hard shower broke - We managed to get home without trouble at 14th St (only a sprinkle) but afterward it rained harder so I could with go over and call on Helen Sayles as I intended. We visited an hour and finally the girls got ready for supper (raincoats &c) and I packed up and went with them to the car - and so on home - I wanted to cross the ferry by daylight (and just did - saw the big Lusitania at
