curtain on fire - but Edith put it out. Had a nice visit with E. & brought home my things. Mar. 23 Mon Fine day - Dr. Scranton's this noon. Father read aloud tonight from Mary's Ainslee's
. Mar. 24 Tues. Lunched at Sibley's and went with Nellie and Mr. MacA to Mr. Davis' funeral. He died very suddenly of acute indigestion (immediate cause) Sunday morning at 10. Mother sat next me. Charlotte wanted me to go to Riverside, so I did, in the carriage with Mrs. Bridges & Mrs. Armstrong. It turned cold and rainy (after a lovely morning) and was very dreary - Mr. D. looked as tho' he was only sleeping - The flowers were beautiful - but it was a hard afternoon - Claude came in before supper - I went to bed very early - very tired. Mar. 25 Wed. Cold and raw. Claude sent off his Pittsburgh competition
drawings. They were very beautiful - Gordon and Foster W. were both enthusiastic - (and so was I, but that don't count) Mar. 26. Thurs. As hot to-day as it was cold yesterday! 75°! Amelie & Meta spent the evening here. Mar. 27. Fri. Rain today - Dr. S. dug out the insides of a tooth this noon & also had a visit with his wife and no dinner! Mother went with the Carings to a play at the West High School tonight and we had a hard thunder shower all the evening! Mar. 28 Sat. Scranton put in my gold inlay today - Sibley's to lunch - photo. Exhibit afterwards, wrote tonight. Weather better - Miss Mcaffrey's "John
" is here for 4 days!
