"Oats, peas, beans," & "stamped his foot" long after the others were
through &c. They had a little table and ate supper & Mother
& "Nana" & Channie & Chat & Lura
came, & Channie was quite a "belle" &
Henry
kept his eye on little Marie Connelly & said "nice
little dirl, Channie!" and made a bow and
kissed all their hands when he left. Francey
was a dear little hostess but with such a bumped nose!
May 9. Sun.
Hot & muggy. Father & I took the
Sea Breeze
car & went down to Titus Road & had a long walk
(unnecessarily so) to find Miss Peachy
(a Post Express girl) in her little house. Had quite a visit
& she showed us thro' some of the greenhouses - big cucumbers ready to
gather & tomatoes big, but still green. We came home thro' Seneca Park - a lovely walk & it was beautiful
- the white blossoms all out - dog wood &c. Home for dinner & to
Cro'nest. A hard shower so we couldn't go
out. Letitia's sister was there. Then came
home to do puzzles &c.
May 10 Mon.
Foggy & horrid. Tonight Marguerite &
I went unexpectedly to see Marie Doro in "The Morals of
Marcus"
- It was very charming.
Edwin Arden was "Marcus" We enjoyed it.
May 11 Tues.
Lunched with Mother at Sibley's. She was elected President of the Autumn Chapter! JWC was simply the limit. I couldn't stand it much longer if I didn't
know he sailed the 29th. Cold tonight. Read in
bed.
