North Pole discover- ed by Peary, but we didn't know it till Sept. 6. 1909
A week or so ago - just after it was painted. "After the Bath" and "A Sea Idyl" were simply charming - also a swimming boy - & many others. They were well worth the trip to Buffalo. The place was crowded by the time we left. Then we did find the Zoo - after a long but charming walk across the meadows. It's a nice zoo - a lion - some ocelots who licked themselves like Zozie. A Kangaroo - an elephant & some strutting peacocks with tails spread. Also some dirty but fascinating monkeys & other "birds" & various kind - bears & things. We came down & met Bess at Statler's Hotel at 6:30 - a nice fire place indeed. She treated us to a nice dinner at the restaurant & we came home at 8. Read Hashimura. Togo
on "Pure Food" coming home (9:40) Apr. 5 & 6 Mon & Tues Very busy & very tired. Bed early. Read & sew &c. Father read aloud night. Apr. 7. Wed. He began "Through One Administration"
tonight. A terrible wind storm today 58 miles an hour - everything blew down that could - & people were hurt &c. Apr. 8. Thurs. The boys (Boyce) sent Mother some lovely hyacinths. J.G.C. went to Buffalo today. Apr. 9-10 Fri.-Sat. Snow again, & cold. Sat. p.m. Kate Davis came home from Sicily & I went to meet
