Aug 1. Sat. Dear Claude's 42nd birthday. Telephoned him. Chandler better - a fine morning. Father not feeling first rate & Mother went to the station with me (8:43) Bob-Bess & Mame came late - with the "shuffer". Vincent Stratton, "Aunt Frank" and "Dot" & we were seen on the train - just on time and waved goodbye to. The train was long & fine but we had good Pullman Seats. Mr. & Mrs. Danforth were in the State room & came and talked to me. The Wadsworths (Herbert

) joined them at Utica - delayed a train by tickets not being delivered &c. At Utica Syracuse we tried to see Mrs. Stratton, but didn't, & at Utica had our delicious lunch (Mother's chicken &c.) Instead of getting cooler later it got hotter. There was a family - father, mother, son & daughter, maid & French governess, who amused us going up. At Clearwater we boiled & crowded into a hot little train - but the ride was beautiful and we arrived at the Raquette House only an hour late and after a good dinner found the thermometer at 56°! Had a walk bought some postals. Saw Rob Collier's fast motor boat & some others & went to bed a in delightfully soft clean beds to Aug. 3. Sun.

Chandler 33 wks. 17.3
sleep hard till morning. Ate a 7.30 o'clock breakfast, expecting an early start, but the train was late & we started on the boat about 9. A fine front row of 3 seats.
