Dinner was also very late and far from satisfying. Soon afterward we got ready
& took the gasoline boat back to Canandaigua. It
only broke down once, but we just managed to miss the 5:08 car, so waited till 6:08
- eating ice cream cones meanwhile. I was a used-up lady coming home and
rested awhile before bread-and-milk and my own bed - which looked & felt very
good to me.
July 6. Mon.
Very hot. 91º in our office. Lunched at Duffy's
with the girls - a nice cool lunch - &

Hotter yet 92º. Mother came down & bought
a white dress & I a green silk one. We lunched at
Sibley's. Went home to supper with Lura. None of Mrs.
Davis's children are in town!
Charlotte went with Frank to Kinsale after
Lilian & Frances. It cooled off with a shower & was quite comfortable by
the time I got home. Made a lavender stock & belt for Mother's dress.
