More rain (which doesn't make Mother
feel any better) Was very tired tonight.
Behn's phone out of order & they come over here to use ours
a good deal - Mr. B. is sick.
May 8. Fri.
Rain all day. Mary Ward with Mother. Lunched with Father at
Sibley's - also
Miss Bradshaw. Then she &
Hanna
took us thro' the Elm Street factory - very nice.
Bath and bed early tonight!
May 9. Sat.
Colder. Lura & Mrs. B. are having their troubles! Accounts tonight
& fussing.
May 10. Sun.
A cool wind today. Fred W. is here &
Claude
'phoned to ask me to dinner but I couldn't go. Went up later & tried to
take Fred & the baby (?) Henry &
Letitia went down to
Grandma's & when I got home I found her very tired. She's
disappointed not to go to church. Held Chandler nearly an hour!
May 11 & 12 Mon & Tues.Mother not well. Her knee painful.
Mr. Behn dangerously ill with dropsy
&c.
May 13. Sun.
Dark & dismal. Mother went to the
Dr's & I met her there. I am afraid it was a painful journey. Hustled her to bed
as soon as she got home & went to see
Jessie B. in "The Marriage of Mr Ashe" - not very good.
Mary-Belle, Bessie
Bob and "Uncle" there too.

Cool. Lunched with Miss Flack (!) at
Sibley's and shopped. Mother miserable
May 15 Fri.
She stayed upstairs again today, as
Mary Ward was here. I had Nan
brush my hair this noon. Felt good.
