Trudy came this afternoon and is such a comfort. We
just talked - long after we got to bed too. I gave
her Char's things. The red suit fitted her too.
Dec. 31 Tues.
Fine winter morning - but very windy at noon.
I took Mother, Trudy &
Edith to lunch at the Samovar. Bess
& Mame were there too & we had a
little visit. Then
Trudy & Mother went to see little Hal &
little Chandler
and at night Lura & I went to the
hospital too - and Charella, who chanced to
come down in the elevator with us.
The baby was asleep in the nursery - but so sweet and dear. They loved him, of
course. Tonight there was a fire over at Field's
on
Greig St. and Meta's
decoration burnt up in the middle of her dinner party!
Grace
and Ruth Dowling made a short call, but were as
entertaining as ever. 1908.

We got up betimes this new year's morning (after listening to hear it come
in). We packed
Trudy's box - after doing dishes &c.
(Mother
went to prayer meeting. Claude and
Jim came down just before dinner
(Jim
didn't stay) and after dinner I went to the train (The Empire) with Gertrude. Saw her off and Miss Jones
come. Had a little talk with her. She wants
Chandler's wet nurse (Hilda) to continue &c.
