& went home to change their clothes for the fireworks, Christine
got sleepy in the long wait but when the parade did come it was very nice - tho' the N.Y. float were about worn out & looked funny & frowzy In the middle of the thing was an alarm of fire & ambulances came & went &c. &c. & labor a live wire broke but we were ok, & watched the surging crowds with interest. The illuminations were very fine. About 10:30 we 4 skipped around the back way to the boat again & went down the river to the fireworks (waterwheel) The river was a dream of beauty. The big lit boats - the red fire the little Halfmoon
