board. It was a pretty a sight (that picture was a
failure) We were saluted with 24 guns at the Encampment & with 100 at water-
wheel Arsenel & with whistles &c everywhere & the shores were
lined - It was pretty! Near Troy we
lined up and the little boats circled the "Trojan" (Gov.
Hughes had returned to that) and Indians came out in canoes and there
were great "doings". Meanwhile Frank
had got us a very nice buffet lunch & we felt as good as new. The day was
warm and perfect & everything so beautiful. We got thro' the bridge and up
to the dock about two, and then went up to Mr.
Coloris
back for rest & refreshment. Later walked over toward Will
Bayer's (on 2d St.) & on the way saw the costumed
school children escorting the Governor
to the City Hall. He bowed to me when I
waved my flag - & Rob't Fulton (a very good looking young man)
bowed to Eo! We went to the Bayer's & took off our
things & rested were & met all the people and I had a fine sight of
the p.m. parade of
