A hot night but a breezy morning - the bay rippling away from us at a great rate. We were late to breakfast, but the Bride & Groom
were later! Afterward everybody (swapped in shawls & vests & rugs) went down on the beach to see the big waves & to Kodak &c. The ladies sat on a log under my steamer rug & formed a wind-break for Mr. Huerter & Mrs. Cheeseman (pictures!) later Larue & I posed (unconsciously) for a battery of cameras. Finally (after some more Kodaking) everyone started off in various directions to walk. Trudy & I walked up the beach toward the Woods & East Bay. It was quite a nice walk but we got a little wet from big waves & had to do some climbing. The woods are just the other side of the marshy bay which makes Russell's an "island" (?) They are lovely with a sort of a road winding up thro' them which we followed inland for a while. It was beautiful to look out under the trees & see the breakers. Coming back we found a nice place to spread the rug against a high bank - just the right slope - with our feet to water - & spent an hour there - in the shade. The lake was beautiful. Just had time to dress for dinner & afterward had a nice chat with the Bride & Groom
who left their boat over on the other side of the bay & walked home (!) Took the Slosson Kiddies' picture with water lilies & then sat on our piazza nearly all the p.m. and read!
