10/14/08 "The Boys & Betty."
came down with us to Monroe & Rutgers & Kittie Crichton & a friend joined us and we saw the long parade which was really fine. I felt myself getting cold tho' thro' the soles of my shoes! Got into the mob ahead of the parade downtown & walked home from there rather than wait for a very-late car. Illumination beautiful. Oct 14. Wed. Not much business to day. A big industrial parade took up all the morning - we saw it from the office windows. A crowd were there. Edith Andrews came just as it was over & we edged our way down to Duffy's where we found Mrs. Andrews & Mother & after a long while got a very good dinner & felt better. We walked over and went thro' the Hotel Rochester, which they liked very much & then went to Howe & Rogers to look for rugs. Then E. & I went to Doyle's to buy a waist & to the Lyceum for tickets and to the Seneca to telephone "Fred"
to come in & take her to dinner tomorrow. Then home & after dinner & dressing E. and Mrs. A. & I went to see Marie Caheel in "The Boys & Betty". A clever little play with lots of fun in it & gorgeous costumes. Afterward Mrs. Andrews took us into the Seneca where we had supper fine chicken salad and orange ice &c. Oct 15. Thurs. Fine day 80 degree in shade. Left guests sleeping this a.m. but came home to lunch to find them gone shopping. Tonight went
