Democratic convention next week - Electric arches being put
up &c. & The river was beautiful - in the smoke - tonight

I woke early - crying! It was raining outside and I was dreaming of
J.G. - his worst side! I couldn't get to sleep for a
long time but did at last & when I woke again it was sunshine
(but smoky still) Home all morning -Jack
& heard much I praise of the architect &c. This p.m.
he & I went to Cro'nest. I
took care of Henry while Letitia
walked in the woods with some of her little guests (2 little girls)
& Papa
went over to the park & Chandler
was asleep (after having his picture taken)
Henry talks a good deal - said "two
men"- "open the door" (to my camera) &c. &c. still calls flowers
"wogies" (it was "wa-wa" at first) but says "horse" instead of
"oolio". He learns fast & is
