up and had supper and finally it clouded up and we started back. I sat on the "roof" nearly all the way back. It was beautiful. It rained some of the way but I put on my raincoat & K.S.

had a red umbrella over us and we sang(!) She is going up the lakes on the "Japan" next Thursday. We went thro' the 10 bridges at dusk and liked it so well we went on up thro' the city and the lock and out to the eastern widewaters where the "Stormy Petrol" sleeps. "Percey"
and "Cuba" were there to meet them and the baby cooed and laughed and the hatches were battered down about 8:30! Twas a fine cruise. K.S.
carried a lighted lantern up to the Monroe Ave. car. I stopped at Davises to hear the latest from Helen (She has gained 6 pounds and the Veaches are there) and then came home good and sleepy. Aug 13. Sun. Lura's birthday. A lovely day. She goes to "St. Helena" tomorrow night. I was home all day - reading and resting mostly, and late this p.m. went out to Lura's to a "party".
