11/27/06 "Mr Hopkinson"
Nov. 25 Sun. Went up to Cro'nest about noon. Claude just home from N.Y. & as I tho't he was rather tired didn't stay long. Saw Henry just a minute (at his dinner) The sun came out a little while. I read after dinner and later Mary & Nellie came but didn't stay long. Read the magazines in the evening. How perfectly interesting that sounds! I don't think I'm cut out to keep a journal. I have interests and pleasures in life, many and constant - but my journal sound as flat as boiled leaves - with salt - I'm sure I don't know why I go on keeping it! Nov.26. Mon. JGC went to N.Y. (JW's there) Papa read aloud to us tonight. I fussed. Nov. 27. Tues. Rather rainy but Mary& I went to the Lyceum to see "Mr. Hopkinson" - a funny but very English - face. It was clever but there was certainly "no one you could love" in it ! Nov. 28 Wed. Still rather dark and horrid. Had a headache. Florence Fowler & Ethel Mundy spent the day with Char & were de- lighted with Henry. Edith Andrews came tonight - on her way home from Mexico
to spend Thanksgiving. She's as gay there as everywhere - with 2 devoted admirers (at least). She slept with me.
