the whole, very
good indeed - all but the ice cream. We were all very hungry. Some
"baked apple sauce" was simply fine! After dinner (which lasted some
time) the two girls and I went down by the creek and sunned awhile (it
got cool) and there I picked a bunch of asters and we went back to the
piazza and looked at some photographs Carol
had
brought - and finally (after three) started to walk over to
Oatka (Scotts-
feelville station on the
Erie). We took it easily, with a long rest on the
turnpike, by a stone wall. The road across the valley is beautiful - and shaded. We reached the River
about 4:30 and rested on the bank till after five. The clouds were
lovely and the sunset proved to be, later. We took the 5:35
Electric home and it reached here at 6. I just caught
a car - and ate a huge supper before my early bedtime. Zozie is purring in my lap - Mother reading nearby and
Father writing in the Kitchen. Now I go
bye-bye (8:40!)
Sept. 29 Sun.
A rainy night - (the 2nd) and
a dark day. We've been having the Equinoctial. Nothing special
happening nowadays. Dined at Cro'nest wednesday - to visit
Jo. W. a nice visit too. Tuesday went down to
Katherine Spencers with Bob &
M.D. & Ethel F. and on
Monday night to Helen Davis' to hear
about (Hamilton Clark Davis & Milly
Katherine McIntosh - Sept 17.Pt. au Baril)
