and walked in to Station No. 5 (Country Club) & tried to find some one at home at the Stowell House - where we heard they took boarders. Only the three cats were there - Came in and had supper at the White Kitchen & then I went out to Davises - and learned that Hamilton was engaged to Milly McIntosh! (just as we planned it all out!) May 9 Thurs. Fine day - Wrote the Bride & Groom to be. Read & played flinch tonight. May 10 Fri. Cold & snow & rain! Lunched at Sibley's & Mrs. Martin brushed my hair (Nan Conolly still sick at Hospital) Spent the evening at Meta's - Mrs. Walter was there. Frieda in another scrape at School. May 11 Sat. Snow again - Regular winter - Smith was in and his career made quite and sensation - first (privately) JWC found he is to leave us to work for our rivals in St. Louis - and second (we guessed) He has broken off with "Lulu

" in Worcester and is to marry a girl in St. Louis in June. We are all much purturbed - In fact he is too apparently. Went to Scrantom's for a book "The Lovely Lady of Grosvenor Square" - which proved quite interesting tonight.
