Claude was down. After dinner I dressed up and
went over to Mrs. Wetmore to call on Ruth
" and afterward
we read "Uncle Remus" aloud and discussed a Saturday night
reading club. Hamilton
brought me
down in the car and talked "Canada" &c.
1906Mon Jan. 1.
Pleasant sunshine & shade of
a morning with snow flurries &c. Claude came down about 11:30 I went up to Cro'nest and had luncheon with Char and Teresena Peck - who's visiting there. Claude was at the Club. Had a
very nice time. Took the South Ave. car down to the
Lyceum
and met Mother. Saw "Mrs. Wiggs of the
Cabbage Patch", which was very amusing.
Madge Carr Cook was a perfect "Mrs. Wiggs".
Afterward we went to the Manhattan
to supper and
then over to the "Y" - where
Helen introduced me to some Swedish
girls - one a governess and one on embroiderer - both college
graduates and speaking 4 languages and
