5/4/06. Tannhauser.
I came home and read "He and Hecuba" - since "Pam" the Baroness Von Hutten interests me Apr. 30 Mon. Cool and cloudy. Quite a hard thunderstorm in the night. Went to the bank &c. Tonight Papa read May 1 Tues. Fine today. Got my new bicycle tire ($3.50 [illegible]
, guaranteed) Read and played flinch tonight. Elsie Caring has a position for June - in the Brooklyn Hospital. Visited with Frieda after supper. May 2 Wed. Rain today. Lunched with Papa at Sibley's and shopped a bit. It cleared for an hour or so, then rained again. Wrote letters tonight. May 3 Thurs. Another cloudy, cool day - but no rain. Gilmore went to Conesus and I was busy, of course. Reading & music tonight. May 4 Fri. Charlie Vickery is 40 today. He has gone to Salt Lake City to manage the U.S. Telephone there. We under stand he has married again(?) Tonight there was a shower which cooled the hot air. I went to "Tannhauser" with Laura (in English - Savage's Company and really enjoyed it very much (tho I was very tired) It was a brilliant performance - and audience - J.G. was in a box. Had a bath and went to bed so sleepy!
