a paradise of a wood - up and down across little open spaces - past glimpses of water thro' yellow trees & real shafts of sunlight up lanes of green. It was indescribably delightful. We came out the dark side - near an ominous looking hut - which proved to be the stopping place of a merry party who had come in two automobiles and a motorcycle & were cooking dinner. And behold! Bushnell's Basin was almost at our feet! It was astonishing how straight we'd come. We sauntered thro the hamlet skirting the canal & the heaps & piles & hoardes of apples and finally over the hill turned down to the path along the "oxbow" which I have often wanted to take - when on the canal. We walked to the highest part - way above the road & sat in the sun& rested. It was only about 3:15, so we decided to walk on to Pittsford - which didn't seem far (I think it's about three miles from the "village") So we got down to the road before which winds along Irondequoit Creek a long while - then mounts a hill (where Carol met friends - the "Rands of Oak Hill). And turns up to "Carterville" station and then along the canal (but above it) to
