lovely one. "Irving" Hartman (Mrs. Jones' son-in- law) brought the boat over the last night and the girls (clovers) went off in it for daisies this a.m. I helped decorate & then lay in the hammock & read "Joseph Vance" while some hulled strawberries, shelled peas, folded napkins & chatted generally. (I folded a few)Edith ("Aunt Edith") came about 10:30 and about eleven a lot of them went in bathing. They had the boat & went up to the sandbeach and we others sat on the shore and watched and took pictures. A big crowd to dinner - two tables. We took votes on the name for the boat and (with some lobbying) "Mary Belle" (Miss Dickens) was chosen and while Edith made daisy wreaths Bob & I made a lovely pennant - red with black letters - and we had a Launching with a bottle of vinegar & water (grave success) While we were doing the pennant a grand Ball game was going on in the lawn. Even the neighbors enjoyed it. Later we went down on the beach (under umbrellas) and read about Capt. Jonadab &c. ("Old Home House" and I carved a letter opener for "Mary Belle". She and I went to see Edith off right after supper (2nd table) and then stayed to see the back view of "Fighting the Flames". The "ladies"
