11/13/06 "Lion & the Mouse".
They have their first (steamer) letter from Herma. She had a fine tip. Char phoned me to come up to supper tonight. So I did and had a nice visit and saw the baby. It was snowing hard when I came away. Castle & trees were white - and very beautiful. Read later. Nov. 13. Tues. Everything covered with snow & still snowing this morning. It is a siege. Took a picture thro' the storm. Lunched at Sibley's with Mother at noon. Had quite a nice little visit with Bess Hutchison. Tonight went with Frieda (& met Idy) to see "The Lion & the Mouse" at the Lyceum. It was fine. We all enjoyed it very much. Fine house too. Nov. 14 Wed. Home to dinner for a change today. Went up to Edward's
for a book tonight & met Esther Warmington. Had a nice little visit with her. Got "Coniston" & read it tonight. Had a long visit with Meta. Nov. 15 Thur. Gloomy day. Mother came down to hear Kate Davis speechify and we went to the " Samovar " to lunch. It was a nice lunch Bess Hutchinson & Mame Dickens were at our table & it was quite jolly. Went to Miss Karnes about having my green velvet hat made over. This p.m. Herbert Caswell came in (to invite me to go to the Lion & the Mouse!) He was coming up tonight but wrote later that he had a wire to go to Cleveland. Nov. 16. Fri. Better weather today - but still snow on things. Lunched with G.C.B. at Sibley's & read tonight.
