rowing together in the "Wolverine" - went up to the point and sat around under the trees while Gurdon (with some assistance) got his tent up for camping at night. Going back on the lake Nan& I had a "heart to heart" talk about certain things (W.F. & G. &c.) Had a nice lobster supper. I picked some boquet &c. Read in the evening. Gurdon & Percy went to cold. camp, loaded up with provisions for breakfast &c. Aug 26. Sunday Got up about eight - only three "females" at breakfast. We all went to church - a pretty white Colonial one - to hear Mr. Rumball

, preach a very good sermon. The church was nearly full & the collection over $40.00 - (only about 30 members and only 3 men among them!) You have to be careful or you stick to the rail at the back of the pew! Some people put in hymn books, handkerchiefs, or palm leaf fans. Walked back with Miss Lawrence, Miss Fanning (in charge of the Women's Exchange at Providence) and Miss Brown (called the "Yitta Hella") After dinner went up to Miss L's and borrowed her negatives to get some Waterford views - also walked in the Annex & had some Spring water out of the big "carboy" in the passage, & back by the hotel. Wrote some letters & then took a lovely walk, by myself, up the "old road" to
