Edith and I were going to Henrietta on our wheels to see Frederika, who is staying out there with her family, but she got a puncture so we couldn't go, and went to the Beach instead. Found Mae and John home and had a pleasant visit. The Charlie-Wray family came in an Auto (Theodore, Cornelia and Elizabeth) said nice things about Claude's places &c.&c. we went down and sat by the lake afterward - in a big breeze with breakers to look at. Had dinner on the piazza - a delicious one, of course- and then went and sat by the lake again a long time with Edith and Mae. John wasn't feeling well and was dozing in the hammock. We went home about the time the fireworks began - or started- but they ended so soon we had to stand up in the car. Did cash acct &c. later. July 23. Sun. Home most of the day. In the edge of the evening, rode down to Edith's on Diana but she wasn't in so rode down Lake Ave away (saw Fred'k Lewis sitting on his piazza) and then up to Mary's, where I sat in the backyard quite awhile, "Peter" has four more Kittens! Phoned Edith . Rode home to [illegible]. July 25. Tues. Yesterday and today J.W.C. has been in Chicago, so I'm slowly getting caught up.
