moon rise
behind us &c.&c. It was really lovely. Got home about 10 very sleepy
Aug 18 Fri
Iroquois won !
and were lazy this morning,
naturally Busy at the office (we got the new P.O. regulations
yesterday) Still negotiating with Anderson. Tonight
Mother and I went up to
Cro'nest and got Mal
and went over to Highland Park to
see the illumination of the fountain (which was really lovely) and
hear the band. Was very tired and sleepy & bed was welcome.
Aug 19 Sat.
I wrote to Gertrude that I would come up to the
Island and meet her if she came here by boat when I could. I got a
letter saying she was coming by rail, but yesterday the
Flack girls said they'd go, when we found we
couldn't get a stateroom - Even thro'
Frank Davis. "They'd been full a
week on all boats going East" &c. &c. &c. We were rather
disappointed & we tho' it
was a breezy day, but this morning
Amsden 'phoned he had a
stateroom (given up by someone) so we suddenly decided to go. I flew
up to Davis's
from the office to
read Helen's letter and Chat's & the Skipper's postals and then back to do cash accts.
"pack" take a bath dress & fuss generally before an early supper.
