to supper (Mary, Edith & Mother) and a sort of Fair. Had a long visit with Helen Davis (just back). Went to a "Circus" in the Gym. It was very good - especially The Teddy-bear girl. "Rastus" was a clown - also Myra Crawley & several others. Mar. 23 Sat. Fine day. JGC is home and a nuisance, as I've been running the office this week while everyone was sick or away - & Very busy, of course. Shopped some & stopped a "Duffy's" for soda & to avoid a shower. Wrote tonight. Mar. 24 Sun. Darkest this a.m. Char hasn't a girl yet. She staid with Hy. & Claude came down to dinner. Later I went over & called on Frances Davis (who was a dear & wanted to come to me) and then went up & called on Chattie, Helen & Miss Dunham, her guest. Quite a pleasant p.m. Miss Armstrong came in and I went down to Lura's to supper. Laura was there a little while, looking over old theatre programs Miss Van Zandl gave her. Mar 25-26 Mon. Tues. Uneventful but busy day. Gilmore sick and JG & I running the office. Char looking for a cook. Jim's mother very sick & general March blues. Read every night. Mar. 27 Wed JWC came home this p.m. Herb. Caswell called tonight but didn't stay late. Wasn't feeling well. Enjoyed his call, as always. Mar. 28 Thurs Dark day. Went to Dr. Scranton's & he made me have two teeth out, without taking anything, too.
