and we had a very good time indeed. Ar- rived at the top of the glen about 11 or so and drove down a very steep hill in a "stage" to the Glen Springs (?) Hotel at the foot of the glen - a picturesque place - all flags, foliage plants, gold fishes and vines. Had time to rest a little, take some pictures and buy some postals (!) before dinner - which was very good - and the dining room was cool and flyless. About 1:30 or so we started up the glen and kept at it two hours. It is a most astonishing place - indes- cribable in words. Chasms, waterfalls - little cliffs - sheer walls and rocks and "height" everywhere (about 800 feet in all) we stopped now and then - to explore the Observatory (off the glen) to rest. To watch a dog ("photo") catching minnows - to get under a sheet of water - to put on and take off rubbers (not me) and coats &c. &c. I shall have to remember it all. When we finally reached the top - we rested awhile and cooled off with ice cream &c. and Carol & I took a little walk down a very pretty path - but the train started at 5. Which was about right - and went 40 miles along the shore of the lake. We had a nice rest
