while Claude goes up to Moose Lake - where he's
building the
Hane's cottage. Saw Katherine &
Carl, Putzi
is lost. It was lovely up there.
Read &c. tonight.
Jun. 12 Tue.
Still fine. Lunched with
GCB at Sibley'sMother'schapter day. She says Chattie
leaves for Georgian
Bay tonight. Laura
and I went to the National tonight. She was
much pleased with the Stock co. It's their last week.
Jun. 13 Wed
Still very fine. Home to lunch -
Read "Queen Isyl" a little. Went with
Edith to see "Babette" tonight. The
Hutch-Dickens were there.
Jun. 14 Thur.
Fine, but much warmer.
Elsie Caring
left for
Brooklyn hospital this a.m. Tonight I rode down to
Summerville at 5:30 and sat on
the pier an hour or two - till the sunset - and "thought thoughts". It
was very beautiful and almost no one there, but I saw Fanny
Chapin and a young man. She strikes me always as a
very - un-chaperoned young lady. It got cold by sunset. I had a
sweater and needed it. Came home in the
North King passenger car, with such a "pretty lady". Went to
bed rather early (after eating)
Jun. 15 Fri.
Lunched at Sibley's again, Dr.
Scranton
came over and talked about the Ojibway. Got a postal from Chattie (Penetang)
Mother & Mrs. Baker went with the "chapter"
