We had a very pleasant ride to the foot, zig zagging across the lake. Saw Mrs. Gilmore & Miss James at Eagle Point. We made reasonably close connections & had a pleasant (but warm) ride in & a nice chat. Trudy went right home (11:15) with the satchel, & Mr. H. walked over to Clinton Ave. with me. He is traveling for the Mosher safe people. I lunched at Sibley's & worked very hard all the rest of the day - was dead tired tonight. Mother read us her Philippine paper & I went to sleep twice - tho' it was very good. The Boyce boys

came home - brown & well. Aug 7 Tues. Cool & fine. Was down very early (before J.G. who left at 8:40!) Opened the mail &c & did a "day's work before Gilmore came at 9. Went over to McCurdy's & met Mary told her to come up tonight. Also Mabel, later. They both came, & May, to call on Trudy we had quite a jolly evening Mabel was very funny & looked very pretty. May looked pretty too, & insisted on telling conundrums. Aug 8 Wed. Cool & fine. Went down with Trudy, who started on the RW & O. at 8:10. Mother went to Dansville at 4:30 (she reads her paper tomorrow) & I worked till 7:30. Went to the White Kitchen to supper & wrote until after 11 tonight. My blanks are fearfully behind. It's a mercy J.W. is gone!
