Empire State express (George
and the car had gone on to Albany by freight - !) I saw Miss F.
a little while this noon and then came home at 4 and had a quite a visit. We had intended going for a drive - In fact Jordan
and "Angela
" came - but it rained so we didn't go. Miss F.
is very pleasant. We went to the train with her after supper & then walked down to say goodbye to Edith. Miss
& Mrs. Maise were on the piazza. E. has a new rain- coat nearly like mine except its gray instead of brown. Saw Ida's new yellow kitten, "Ginger" (Z. & Z's sister!) Sat. Aug. 4 Cloudy this morning but fine later. I stayed and worked till 3:30 after the office closed. Then came home & had some bread & milk and at 5 Gertrude and I went to Conesus to visit the Willard's at "Wayback" - John Stull was on the train & Mr. & Mrs. A.O. Bunnell & Mr. Ward were on the boat & we visited all the way up. It was still & quite warm. Saw nothing of the Twins at Livingston Glen, tho' the whole family went up there for two weeks at 1:45 today. Charles & Mr. Willard both rowed over to Barrett's dock for us (2 boats) & at Wayback were Dem & Mate & "Charlie" Helligas
, Mr. W's nephew from N.Y. He was very nice & proved to be good fun. Everything was lovely there. Mrs. Weeks presiding in the kitchen & 2 yellow kittens (Socrates & Xantippes) at Holmes! Had a good supper (dandy potatoe salad) all of us,
