July 15 Sun
We all went to church this
morning, & heard a not very interesting sermon by
Mr. Herrick. Saw a lot of people I knew - The
McCurdy's &c. After church Mrs.
A. & I took a walk, and called on Dem Bunnell. She gave me a
Napoleonic "dirge" for Helen's
St. Helena very doleful and
very old and queer. We found
Mr. Morris on the piazza with the girls, she came in
for a visit & Edith played the
"dirge". He is very nice - of course
Edith told me all the "latest" about
"Willard" & "Frease" (now put
away) last night when she slept with me. We went to the Hyland
House to dinner. It seems a very popular place, (but I've
eaten better dinners) and then back home and all took naps. (I took a real one. too) about 4 o'clock I took a nice
ride with the Dr. up by the Sanitarium
and around by "Topcol"- but I didn't like it when he
stopped & made visits & I held (?) the horse. We also drove out
Main St.
