a Southern girl recited negro
stories and songs and Frank Trappe sang and Miss Logue
played. Mrs. D. , Chat, Lillian,
Frank, Lura, Mrs. Baker, The
Goulds &c. were all there. Staid up rather late.
Jan. 2. Tues.
A busy day, of course. Lura asked me to go to home to dinner with her
and I felt just like it, so I 'phoned mother
and Mrs. B. & went. It was a delicious chicken dinner. Mother & Mrs. B. had been
out to Mrs. Davis to a "chapter" meeting. Later Lura and I
went to the
MacArthur's & saw their Xmas things
Nellie's all carefully put away) and the cats
&c. Am reading "House of Mirth".
Jan. 3. Wed.
Cloudy morning. Began raining at
noon & then freezing a little sort was "fierce" walking back. It poured
torrents when I came up tonight & there were 5 Exchange
St. cars together! Found
Edith Andrews here. As entertaining as usual.
Its nip and tuck between "Freas" and "Willard" now. She isn't very well but
enjoys being a Senior.
Mother and I saw her to the 9:06 train. Others
were going. Paul Crapsey with the Flacks to
see him off, &c. &c. Rained all night.
Jan. 4 Thu.
"One of those bad days". Damp &
dark and everything horrid. Read in my room.
