Sept 26 Wed. Fine morning. Claude came down with some of little Henry's cards (here's one see 9/6/06 ) Lunched at Sibley's with Esther Warmington (who had an ulcerated tooth poor thing) went home to see Mother. She had a lot of Char's con- gratulatory letters & telegrams to read (over 60 came I think!) Mother gets strength slowly I sent her up to bed early tonight. She Sept. 27 Thurs. came down to breakfast for the first time this morning (& went right up again) Lunched with Papa. Went to the Traders Bank & then home & hustled back. Finished the series at flinch tonight. Mother beat 25 to 21! Very tired. Sept. 28 Fri. Still fine. Early breakfast, & hustling supper, Mary 'phoned she was coming over tonight but Alice's baby had come this morning 6.a.m. & she was too excited! Edith came up after supper & staid awhile. Mr. & Mrs. Conklin called, too. Mother pretty tired tonight. Lunched with Papa & didn't come home this noon (first time!) Went to the Bijou a few minutes, Arthur Rathjen was in Says Mart has another girl (the 3rd!) named Emily
. Sept. 29 Sat. Klem Goodyear called me up (about "Beachlets") Cloudy & some rain in a.m. & p.m. Lunched at Sibleys with Edith, "Bess" & "Mame". Then went to the doctor's for Mother. Stopped to congratulate Nellie tonight. It poured "cats & dog's" tonight. The Behns had a fire (Frieda's room) in the midst of it & Mr. Behn very sick! Claude told me about the basket the
