Apr. 1. Mon. Got breakfast, but Mother was soon up. Did a lot of errands this noon - bank &c. &c. Tonight went to "The girl in White" (Orrin Johnson) with Mary. Edith & Miss Maise sat next us. Pretty good (?) Apr. 2 Tues. Still cold & horrid. Mother's cold not much better. Papa read aloud to us tonight. To bed early Apr. 3. Wed. Mother some better but used up at noon be- cause a boy shot at Zenda out in the alley this morning - & wounded her badly (3 holes! in her "tummy") and mother had to take her to Dr. Knight's and watch him probe it &c.&c. Of course Zenda was a little angel. She is pretty much done up & hides away & keeps still We reported it to the police & had visits from various ones - day and night men! - Anyway I hope they will break up the gang of boys about here. Apr 4. Thurs. Warmer. Trudy dear came from Oswego - for the end of her vacation. Were visiting this eve. when Edith Andrews came too! On her way home - we fixed up my divan & slept 3 in a room (after a very pleasant visit) It rained all night long. Edith is to teach Latin in Addison High School next year. Henry sick with a cold. Apr. 5 Fri. Rainy morning. Father, Mother, Trudy & I lunched together at Sibleys (Edith left at 9:35) We shopped later. Tonight Edith came up & we played "flinch" &c. Apr. 6. Sat "Brite and fare".
