Tonight rode down to the "Hartigan's" ("Karnes") millinery store and tried to pick out a hat - but didn't suc- ceed - Played flinch &c. later Sept 28 Thurs. Mary got home from up Lake George way - I was lazy to day. Sept. 29 Fri. Much warmer - Went to Sibley's new tea room - also to the "Y" where Helen was setting the new furniture. Supped at the Mechanics - Mother came in before I had finished. She went directly to the "Y" but I went home first to dress (in white) then went too - Had a real good time - with Hamilton, Helen, Edith J. Miss Marie, Miss Hutchinson, Dickens & Gridley, Lura, Christine

, &c. &c. &c. Hamilton gossiped to me a lot - We went down to the gym. And had a nice chat with Mrs Babson, too. Bertha Gutman has been visiting her this summer. Frank & Lilian & Mrs Davis & Mrs. Baker were there, Helen made a speech and the orchestra played! Sept 30 Sat. Mother had a letter from Con today - rather a blue one - Edith is sick again and they are in the mountains near Redlands and are going to Pasadena for the winter. It is still
