10/5/05 Little Duchess.
Oct 3. Tues. A fair and beauteous day again. Tonight Mary and Nellie came up & Mary brought her Lake George pictures. She had a nice time and we had a nice visit. While they were here Frank and Lilian came too and we were quite "folksy" afternoon. They didn't stay late & Mother & I played flinch. Oct 4. Wed Still fine. Tonight I went to the Baker and saw the permanent stock Co. (Bert Lytell, Ida Adair &c.) in "Soldiers of Fortune"- It was better than I expected. Oct. 5. Thurs. Still lovely Mr. & Mrs. J.W. started at 10:30 - in their auto and went to Portage, Castile, Moscow, Cuylerville, Geneseo, Avon, Scottsville &c. &c. before 7:30! Emich is here from N.Y. Tonight Lura and Mrs. Baker & I went to see Elsie Janis in "The Little Duchess" - The play is pretty terrible (very decolthe &c.) but she was as cute as could be - only 17. Oct. 6. Fri. Cooler but still exceptionally fine. Lunched with Helen at the "Y" and we had quite a visit - Tonight Edith came up - she is taking her "vacation" & two weeks at home mostly. It was chilly & we had a fire in the sitting room, with cats each side & played flinch. Oct 7. Sat. Still gorgeous - but colder - Every body built furnace fires - Emich went back Gilmore to the football game. J.W. didn't
